Our Process (Part 2)

In our last newsletter, we shared the first few steps of our creation and production process. We explained how we select each piece of lace, seal it, prepare it for molding with an electrolysis bath, and cut it into the final shapes. We hope you enjoyed this look behind the scenes!

Here’s what comes next:
It’s time to mold. The process consists in pouring gummy pink silicone all over the piece of lace and waiting for it to dry. Our molds are then archived with a special code so we can easily retrieve them to make new pieces.

After that we finally get to cast the final pendant (or cuff, or ring, etc.) Hot wax is poured into a cylinder which, through heating, is progressively replaced by the chosen metal: gold or silver.

Because sustainability is one of our core values, we only use recycled metals sourced from our trusted local partners. We work with artisans in Manhattan’s diamond district, and we thoroughly enjoy supporting other craftsmen and women who love what they do, just like us.
After the pieces are cast, we clean them, remove imperfections, and put them through three polishing steps. We use different tools for precision, to make sure we achieve our desired level of shine.

If they are any stones, this is when we set them.

Plating—covering the jewelry in a solid layer of 24 karat gold—comes next. We use a thickness of three microns (many other brands opt for just one) for superior quality and durability.

And lastly, the final touches: adding chains and clasps.

Your Camille D. pendant is now waiting for you!
